Junior Male - Connor McGuire
The male winner of the ADL/Sport PEI Junior Achievement Award for 2008 is Connor McGuire.
Connor had a very impressive year as a rookie with the Club. He ran in at least 13 runs with us this season, in addition to his cross-country runs with TOSH (Three Oaks Senior High).
Connor placed in the top 10 … overall … in 12 of his 13 races. He was in the top five in 8 races and had 1 – second place finish and 2 – thirds.
Connor excelled at all distance. He broke 18 minutes in his two 5K runs. His best 10K was under 38 minutes. He had a 1:25:08 at the Fulton Campbell half-marathon, and to top it all off, he at a 3:08:49 in the PEI Marathon (his first!).
Connor finished with a perfect score of 174.
You guys at the front … if you haven’t heard Connor’s footsteps coming up behind you yet … you likely will in 2009!
Connor is the son of members Sandy Carson-McGuire and Paul McGuire, and is winner of the ADL/Sport PEI Junior Achievement Award for 2008.
Congratulations Connor. |
