Steven Baglole
2008 Cox & Palmer Rookie of the Year
As always happens, we had many excellent rookie RoadRunners this year, but it was hard to argue against the stats that our winner was able to produce.
Steven Baglole is the 2008 winner of the Cox & Palmer Rookie of the Year Award.
While Steven participated in a couple of runs with us in 2007, he really burst onto the scene when he joined the Club in 2008, and decided to get serious!
Steven started his rookie season with a 38 minute 10K at the Bunny Hop, and followed that incredible run up with a win at the SADD race in a time of 39:33.
At the 5K distance, Steven had runs of 17 minutes at the Proude’s Shoes run (17:58) and the Deltaware 5K (17:08). Steven finished on the heels of the big guns at the Clark’s Toyota 5miler and had a 37 minute 3rd place finish at the PEI parks 10K.
Steven continued his fast pace into the Fulton Campbell half marathon with a finishing time of 1:24.
Steven won his second race at the Mount Edward Grocery 5 miler in a time of 30:23,
… and his third at the Banks Financial 5k in a time of 17:03,
… and his fourth at the ADL golden mile in 4:59,
… his fifth at the UPEI homecoming 5k in a smoking time of 16:41.
Steven carried his speed into the PEI marathon in an incredible time of 2:52.
An incredible year!!
Steven is most worthy of the Cox & Palmer PEI RoadRunners Rookie of the Year Award.
Congratulations Steven!
